South African university rowers have the opportunity to pursue international representation through the FISU World University Games and the FISU World University Rowing Championships.

International University Rowing Pathway
The two primary international competition pathways provide student-athletes with opportunities to compete at the highest level of university sport while representing South Africa.
South African student-athletes studying at higher education institutions outside South Africa may currently be considered for WUG selection only. They are not currently eligible for selection to the USSA Rowing WURC team.
FISU World University Games
A major international multi-sport competition bringing together student-athletes from universities across the world. Rowing forms part of selected editions of the Summer Games.
